Long rows of oak tables seating 350 people were lit by these lamps as centrepieces, with natural light from clerestory windows and the wall-mounted AJ Eklipta providing general illumination. The lamp remains in use at the college today.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe AJ Oxford's slim black stem merges seamlessly into its circular base — a graphic, monochrome form that sits as naturally on a desk or shelf as it did in Jacobsen's dining hall.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003ch2\u003eThe Design\u003c\/h2\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe three-layer mouth-blown opal glass shade emits soft, downward-directed light with a gentle transparency that illuminates the surface below without glare.
